How do I book an appointment?

Can I speak to Dr Sarah Jane Khalid prior to our first meeting?

Yes, you are welcome to speak with me for a brief consultation before you make your decision and ask any questions you might have.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session gives you the opportunity to freely express your concerns and struggles as well as the things you would like to achieve by coming to therapy or coaching. Working in collaboration, you will receive clear feedback that helps makes sense of your difficulties and you will also be informed about the practical steps that need to be taken in order to help. If you agree, a plan will be laid out and discussed.

How many sessions will it take to get better?

This varies from person to person, depending on your specific struggles and the type of therapy/coaching that you receive as well as what you're what you're looking to get out of sessions altogether. Most clients typically achieve their personal goals within 10-12 sessions while others may require longer term, ongoing sessions.

Is my session confidential?

In accordance with the ethical codes of conduct of the HCPC, all sessions are entirely confidential. The only time that your confidentiality would potentially be breached is if you were seen to pose an immediate threat to yourself or others (e.g., actively suicidal) or if your clinical notes were subpoenaed by a court of law. Even in such circumstances, initial attempts to secure help for you with your permission will be definitely be made.

Is Dr Sarah Jane Khalid qualified?

I am fully qualified Chartered Counselling Psychologist and CBT Psychotherapist. I amrecognised in both the United Kingdom and is accredited by the Health & Care Professions Council, the British Psychological Society and British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies. I have several university qualifications and attended many courses. I have more than 13 years of experience working clinically and I work both in the NHS andon Harley Street.

Can Dr Sarah Jane Khalid prescribe medication?

I do not directly prescribe medication but is I am well informed on the options. If you are interested in taking psychotropic medication, this can be discussed in great detail in therapy.

Can I speak to Dr Sarah Jane Khalid in a crisis?

Unfortunately,I do not provide acute psychological treatment or crisis intervention. In the event that you might have an immediate emergency please contact emergency medical services (999) or go to your nearest A&E Hospital. Otherwise for non-emergencies such as medication contact your general practitioner.

Does Dr Sarah Jane Khalid offer discounts?

Maintaining a belief that all individuals should have access to psychological services, I do accept a limited handful of clients for a reduced fee, dependent on income (recent evidence would need to be provided of household income). These slots tend to be booked in advance and you may be placed on a waiting list for the next available slot to become available.

Does Dr Sarah Jane Khalid offer therapy for children or adolescents?

No, I work with individuals who are 18 years of age and older.

How do I pay for my sessions?

It is required that your session is to be paid for in advance. You can expect to be charged for each therapy session in advance.

For example:Session 1 (pay for session 1&2)

Session 2 (pay for session 3)

Session 3 (pay for session 4) .... etc.

Any payment should be cleared before the next session. Unattended appointments or late arrival to a session will be treated as anattended session; this includes unforeseen and exceptional circumstances. This means that you will be charged the full rate for the session; unless 48 hours notice has been providedby yourself.

Do I have to pay if I don't attend?

A 48-hour cancellation policy is maintained. Appointments cancelled without 48 hours notice will be charged in full. Nonetheless, there is an understanding that life is unpredictable and things do happen. In such cases, attempts will be made to re-schedule your appointed within the same week at your usual charge. It is important, however, to note that rescheduling is subject to appointment availability.
