Dr Sarah Jane Khalid
Chartered Counselling Psychologist
A Chartered Specialist Counselling Psychologist and a CBT Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in the National Health Service (NHS). My approach to therapy is grounded in the view that you are the expert of your difficulties and that my role is to gently facilitate your exploration with the help of evidence-based approaches to therapy. Whilst I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (including Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy) I use other modalities such as psychodynamic, person-centred and a relational theory for an integrative approach. My working style is dynamic, down to earth, empathetic and I will offer unconditional support in our collaborative work together. I take an active role, offering feedback, clarification and education around a given problem. By doing this it will enable you to make sense of your difficulties which is paramount for change and empowerment.
I have a wealth of therapy experience covering the following clinical settings: primary care, secondary care and specialist NHS services (dermatology, oncology and eating disorders), Harley Street practice and charity organisations.
I graduated from the University of Southampton, where I earned the following: A Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy for Severe and Enduring Mental Illnesses and a Masters in Health Psychology. I also completed a certificate in Couple's Counselling from the Relate Institute at the University of Hull. In addition, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Royal Holloway University. Furthermore, I graduated from a London University where I achieved a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
Ultimately, I graduated from a London University where I achieved a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. Since completing the Doctorate, I have further studied in Life Coaching and achieved a diploma in this speciality.
